Epping Forest Walking Football’s shortlisting is a brilliant achievement for the Community and Partnerships team. Sessions target adults aged 45 plus who are looking to get back into football to get fit and stay fit. The hour-long sessions allow participants to gently access football where they don’t have to worry about anything other than not running!
The sessions have been taking place for more than two years, going from strength to strength. The programme regularly holds tournaments for the over 50s and recently over 65s. This allows the team to target a wider audience and get more adults involved in physical activity.
Many participants have seen health benefits, both physical and mental. The sessions are fun, not too serious and a must for anyone who has enjoyed football in their younger days and wants to improve their fitness and make friends.
