Heavy rain has caused flooding on many of our roads, causing congestion and in the most affected areas, road closures.
We’ve been out across the district today inspecting our flood defences and vulnerable sites to protect them from flooding.
The advice is to check your route before travelling by listening to the travel news or checking a road traffic website (AA or RAC) and not travelling in troublesome areas unless necessary.

If you need to report a problem with flooding on the highway, please contact Essex County Council on 0345 603 7631 or visit their website for advice.
