Epping Forest’s new youth councillors have made a video emphasising the importance of staying home and staying safe.
While most of them are finding it frustrating not being able to see their wider family and friends they recognise the need for sticking to Government advice on the lockdown around the COVID-19 virus.
They each filmed themselves talking about how they are feeling and more importantly how they are adapting to their new life of home schooling and not seeing their friends.
Positive advice for everyone
Cllr Nigel Bedford, Cabinet Member for Community and Partnership Services said:
They have some positive advice for everyone about being resilient and being in this experience together. Most importantly they want to get the message to the general public about the importance of staying home and saving lives and protecting the NHS.
These young people could teach some of the more mature members of our society a thing or two about rules, as they seem more able to adjust to the new restrictions than some of those who are supposed to be teaching by example.
The film project is sponsored by Smoke & Mirrors, a Tag company, who have worked remotely with the youth councillors to transform their powerful comments into film.
Thank you for sharing your message
The NHS have applauded the Epping Forest Youth Council for their work to inform the public.
Rob Gerlis, Chair at West Essex CCG said:
This film by Epping Youth Council shows exactly how and why the COVID-19 pandemic affects people of all ages. It is good to hear how young people are coping and sharing their advice to help others as they socially distance themselves from friends they are used to seeing nearly every day.
Thank you for sharing your message and encouraging people to stay safe and save lives.
