Freedom of information
Freedom of information
The Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOIA) gives the public the right to request information held by us.
Due to the coronavirus pandemic we may not be able to reply to your request within the statutory timescale. We will try to respond within 20 working days, but this will depend on our service provision across the council.
Our 2 statutory rights for applicants are:
- To be told whether or not we hold that information, and if so
- To have that information communicated to them, if it is not exempt under the law
Make a freedom of information (FOI) request
To make a request for information under the Freedom of Information Act you must make a written request.
Please add FreedomOfInformation@eppingforestdc.gov.uk to your safe senders list or check for a response in your junk mail / spam folder before following up an FOI enquiry.

Costs and exemptions
We provide most information free of charge. However, we will charge you if we estimate it will cost us more than £450 to process your request. This is called the cost limit.
We will contact you before providing the information so that you can decide if you want to continue with your FOI request.
There are some exemptions to the types of information that can be requested under the act, and should an exemption apply, we will write and tell you which exemption is being applied and why.

The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) provides individuals with a right of access to their personal information, through a Subject Access Request.
