Recycling your real Christmas trees in the Epping Forest district is easy.

Christmas tree

Throughout January 2016 all you need to do is put your tree out on your scheduled food and garden bin collection day, after the following 4 steps

  1. Remove the tree from its pot or stand
  2. Remove all the decorations and shake off any sprayed-on artificial snow
  3. If the tree is bigger than 6 feet / 1.8 metres, saw it in half
  4. Place the tree by your green-lidded wheelie bin on your food and garden bin collection day

Couldn’t be easier

Councillor Will Breare-Hall, Environment Portfolio Holder said: “Recycling your real Christmas trees couldn’t be easier. Just leave your tree out with your next food and garden bin collection and we’ll take it away. It’s as simple as that!”

“All our food and garden waste is composted to produce a high quality soil improver. This is used on farmland to help enhance the soil structure, which contributes to ensuring there are plenty of nutritious vegetables for the next Christmas dinner!”
