A message from the Chairman of Epping Forest District Council, Cllr Darshan Sunger to say ‘thank you’ to the men and women who make up our Armed Forces.
Chairman of Epping Forest District Council, Cllr Darshan Sunger said:
Armed Forces Day gives us the opportunity to show our support for the men and women of the Armed Forces past and present, including currently serving troops, Service families, Reservists, veterans and cadets.
Celebrations for Armed Forces Day begin on Monday 19 June when the Armed Forces Day flag is raised on famous landmarks and buildings around the country including the Civic Offices in Epping.
The UK Armed Forces play a vital role in protecting the UK and its interests, working around the world, promoting peace, delivering aid, tackling drug smugglers, providing security and fighting terrorism.
Over the years they have faced many challenges, from conflicts overseas to natural disasters at home. They have always risen to the occasion demonstrating their bravery and commitment to the King and our Country.
Armed Forces Day is an opportunity for us to show our appreciation for their service and sacrifice. It is a day to recognise the courage, dedication, and professionalism of our armed forces.
As a nation we continue to be indebted to those who serve in our armed forces and to the veterans whose service we will never forget and always honour.
Today we thank you.
