Epping Forest District Council will be flying the Ukrainian flag on Saturday 24 February to mark 2 years since the war in Ukraine started.
Hope for the imminent arrival of peace
Epping Forest District Council Chairman, Councillor Darshan Sunger said:
The news of Ukraine’s invasion was not only shocking, but also a terrifying moment for Europe as a whole. It is crucial that we reflect and stand by the Ukrainian people on this emotional day.
Many individuals have made enormous sacrifices, leaving their families, homes, and possessions behind to seek refuge here in Epping Forest District. I take immense pride that our district was able to accommodate numerous Ukrainian families through the Homes for Ukraine scheme. Their inclusion demonstrated incredible generosity to those who have experienced immense losses.
As the conflict persists 2 years on, we must acknowledge the courage demonstrated by Ukraine and its people and hope for the imminent arrival of peace.
On behalf of myself and the Epping Forest District residents we extend our remembrance and support to them.
