
Community Fun & Safety Extravaganza
Join us for an afternoon of fun, learning, and community pride as we celebrate the progress of the Safer Streets project at Oakwood Hill.
The Oakwood Hill Estate is set to come alive with community spirit at the Community Fun & Safety Extravaganza, taking place on Saturday 12 July, from 12 to 3pm at Roding Valley Recreation Ground, right next to the Oakwood Hill Estate.
Event highlights
Restore Community, leaseholders of the Oakwood Hill Community Centre, will once again host their much-loved annual community barbecue, reinforcing their commitment to local outreach.
Thanks to Summer Activate funding, the first 200 attendees will enjoy free burgers or veggie sausages, plus a free bottle of water courtesy of Longcroft Express.

Safer Streets project
This family-friendly event celebrates the achievements of the Safer Streets project and the community outreach initiatives of the Oakwood Hill Community Engagement Officer, both of which have brought a host of improvements to the Oakwood Hill Estate, including:
- Enhanced street lighting
- Marked parking spaces
- Upgraded CCTV
- External works to the Community Centre
- A new community garden
- Resurfaced shop area
- Crimestopper signage
- School safety programmes for over 1,500 pupils in partnership with Arc Theatre and Spark2Life
Led by the Community Safety Team, in collaboration with key partners and the Oakwood Hill Community Engagement Officer, the project has received valuable support and strengthened its connection with the local community.
