We will be lighting the Civic Offices in Epping green on Saturday 10 September as part of a campaign to get people talking about suicide prevention.
Going green
The ‘Creating Hope through Light’ campaign runs from Monday 5 to Saturday 10 September to raise awareness about ways of preventing suicide and encourage residents across Essex to have open conversations about this sensitive subject.
As part of the campaign, Epping Forest District Council’s (EFDC) Civic Offices will join other buildings and landmarks across Essex including Clacton Pier, Brentwood Town Hall and the Mercury Theatre in Colchester in lighting up in green.
A subject close to my heart
Councillor Mary Sartin, Chairman of Epping Forest District Council said:
I am so pleased EFDC is supporting the Light Up campaign again this year and encouraging people to talk openly about a difficult topic. This is a subject close to my heart. It is heartbreaking to lose anyone you love. Suicide is a preventable and avoidable death.
Everyone should feel able to talk about and support someone who is having suicidal thoughts. I urge people to join this campaign, to help raise awareness and support those in need.
