Air quality action plan 2023 to 2028
Air pollution has major health impacts on human health. It is recognised as a contributing factor in the onset of heart disease and cancer.
Additionally, air pollution affects the most vulnerable in society including children, older people, and those with pre-existing health conditions. The annual health cost to society of the impacts of particulate matter alone in the UK is estimated to be around £16 billion. Everyone is affected by air pollution and clean air is important for us all.
