Licensing policy consultation underway

Licensing policy consultation underway

Community news, Leisure and culture news, News

We’re inviting residents and businesses to take part in a consultation on proposed changes to our licensing policy.

We are required to determine and publish our statement of licensing policy every 5 years. The current policy was approved in December 2020, and it must now be reviewed before being adopted for a further period.

Making licensing decisions

The policy relates to licensing activities including the granting of premises licences, club premises certificates, temporary events and personal licences in the district in respect of the sale / supply of alcohol, the provision of regulated entertainment and late-night refreshment.

It sets out the principles the council will generally apply to promote the licensing objectives when making licensing decisions and aims to provide guidance to applicants, residents, businesses and the wider community about the approach we will take as the licensing authority.

The proposed changes to the existing document are highlighted in red for ease of reference.

Help us shape your licensing policy

We encourage everyone to review the proposed changes and share their views. Your feedback will help shape a licensing policy that balances the needs of residents, businesses, and applicants for licenses for the next 5 years.

Councillor Paul Keska, responsible for Regulatory Services
