Limes Farm family fun day & playground celebration
Over 300 people including families, children, and community groups came together on Wednesday 9 July for a family fun day & unveiling of the newly refurbished Limes Farm playground.
Major refurbishment project
The event celebrated the completion of a major refurbishment project that includes a brand-new playground for under-5s, upgrades to the existing 6–14s play area, and the installation of 2 new table tennis tables.
The playground improvements were made possible through funding from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, enabled by Epping Forest District Council’s place-based Community Engagement Officer and strong collaboration with local partners.

Family fun day
The day featured free activities for children and families, alongside community stalls offering opportunities to connect with and support local groups. The event brought together residents from across Limes Farm and Chigwell, with local schools including Limes Farm Infant School and Nursery and Limes Farm Junior School among the key beneficiaries of the improved facilities.
Dignitaries and representatives from across the community were in attendance, including the Epping Forest District Council Chairman and Vice Chairman, Essex Library Service, Limes Farm Colts, Limes Farm Community Group, and Youth Unity.
The family fun day was funded by Active Essex through its Active Network initiative and organised by Epping Forest District Council in partnership with key stakeholders.

Partnership and targeted investment
This event is a celebration of what can be achieved through partnership and targeted investment. The new and improved play areas offer children and families a safe, accessible, and vibrant environment to be active, social, and connected.
