A message of congratulations to HM King Charles lll from Chairman Mary Sartin on behalf of the Epping Forest district.
Our heartfelt congratulations
Councillor Mary Sartin, Chairman of Epping Forest District Council wrote:
It is my honour to write on behalf of Epping Forest District Council and its residents to you and Queen Camilla with our heartfelt congratulations following the coronation on Saturday.
I am lucky enough to have a few memories of the previous coronation of your late mother on 2 June 1953. The world has changed immeasurably since then. As I watched your procession to Westminster Abbey from the comfort of my living room, I reflected on the great changes we have witnessed in the intervening years, and on the customs and traditions that still form the bedrock of our modern society.
We remain the envy of the world. The streets of London, thronged with well-wishers. The pomp and pageantry of our men and women at arms. The ceremony, rooted in hundreds of years of history, and the concert, bringing us right up to date with what Britain means to people today. In a fast-changing world, I felt that your coronation captured the best of our past and the promise of our future.
While the coronation holds great symbolism, it is but a moment in time. From your earliest years, you dedicated your life to the service of your people. Your work on behalf of young people across our great nation, the Commonwealth and beyond is well documented. Your concern for the environment and the future of our planet has inspired millions of people. Your embrace of different faiths and cultures has brought people together in understanding and friendship.
The qualities of foresight, compassion and leadership that served you so well as Prince of Wales, will serve you and all your subjects equally well as our Sovereign.
I have the honour to be, Sir, Your Majesty’s humble and obedient servant.
Councillor Mary Sartin
Chairman of Epping Forest District Council
