We’re excited to show the progress of the construction of the new leisure centre in Epping, bringing us one step closer to completion of this project.

The roofing is now 95% complete with just the green roof remaining, 90% of the external envelope of the building is done, and we are currently focusing on bringing the main power and water connections to the site. Internally, we are working on the wall, ceiling and floor finishes. Both pools are finished and have passed the necessary testing.

Energy efficient

The new Epping Leisure Centre will be the newest and most energy-efficient in the district with air-sourced heat pumps and digital technology, we are aiming for a BREEAM excellent rating.

Facilities

It will include 2 swimming pools, a sports hall, a health and fitness gym, squash courts and studios.

Another step closer to completion

It’s exciting to see this impressive facility take another step closer to completion. As part of the redevelopment scheme for Epping, it will help enable our district’s residents to live active, fulfilling lives, improving their quality of life and their health and wellbeing. Once finished, we’ll have a facility which is welcoming and inclusive to all.

Sustainability is at the heart of the build. Air-sourced heat pumps and the highest levels of insulation will ensure the building runs efficiently in line with our carbon neutral ambitions.

I want to thank our partners Pellikaan Construction and Places Leisure. They successfully built and now manage our leisure centre in Waltham Abbey. Their continued professionalism has ensured this project is both on budget and on track. We hope to be announcing an opening date soon.

We all appreciate the support and patience shown by the local community as we work to provide this vital new infrastructure, which I’m sure will be enjoyed by the community for many years to come.
