Play in the Park wraps up another fun-filled summer
Our Play in the Park sessions have had another successful run this summer holidays, bringing free outdoor fun to children across the district.
Epping Forest District Council’s (EFDC) Community Development and Wellbeing team hosted 47 free outdoor activity sessions across the district from 24 July to 29 August 2025, seeing over 1,700 attendees.
Children enjoyed outdoor activities and games, including tennis, Connect 4, Duplo, soft play, football, and arts and crafts making.
The Dr Bike team, run by Essex County Council, were able to attend certain sessions to offer free bike check-ups and fix bike issues for attendees.
Our session helpers were wonderful again this year, helping children to enjoy the great British summer. Even when rain was pouring, our staff still made sure there were activities for children to enjoy.
Free Easter fun
Our Play in the Park sessions were able to be kept as free events this year with the financial support of our Town and Parish councils, and with logistical support provided by Qualis. A big thank you to everyone for their support in delivering these sessions for our residents.
Play in the Park will be returning for the Easter school holidays, so keep an eye out for more information to come.

Countrycare Mad about Moths
Friday 19 September 2025 8pm – 10pm – FREE
Weald Common, North Weald Bassett, Essex – Limited Parking next to North Weald Parish Hall
5 years and above. Everyone is welcome – under 18’s must be accompanied by an adult.
Join us for an evening observing the unseen beauty of moths. We will set up moth light traps earlier in the evening. Some will be placed out in the long grass and inspected at the end of the evening.
Hot drinks and refreshments will be provided. This is a free event but booking is still required to secure your place. Donations are appreciated for the refreshments.
