The Civic Offices in Epping will be lit in red from Friday 8 November through to Remembrance Sunday on 10 November.
Remembrance Sunday is a time to remember the service and sacrifice of all those who have defended our freedoms and protected our way of life.
We remember the Armed Forces, and their families, from Britain and the Commonwealth, the vital role played by the emergency services and those who have lost their lives because of conflict or terrorism.
District Councillors will be attending services and laying wreaths at various locations on Sunday morning across the district.
We must remember
Chairman of Epping Forest District Council, Cllr Les Burrows said:
On this Remembrance Sunday, we reflect on the 80th anniversaries of pivotal battles of World War II. We must remember and honour all those brave men and women gave the ultimate sacrifice of their own lives, not only to protect their families but also in selfless service for their country.
That is why I, along with a number of other councillors will be privileged to lay wreaths around the district. Together, we remember not only their bravery but also the lasting spirit of resilience and hope that unites us as a nation, thankful for the legacy of peace they created.
We remember, we honour, and we vow to never forget the legacy of those who laid down their lives for our tomorrow.
