We are introducing new and easy ways to make payment and access services in preparation for the closure of our Debden office at the end of November.
Debden cash office closure
The Debden cash office will close on Tuesday 29 November 2022. This includes the cash desk and the housing management services.
The number of residents visiting this office was reviewed in 2019 and found that numbers were consistently low; since reopening the office after the COVID-19 pandemic lockdowns, numbers dropped further.
AllPay cards
For our customers who prefer to pay for our services in cash or require a face-to-face service, we are offering an AllPay card which allows for cash payments at the Post Office and PayPoints.
Housing customers already have these cards, and Council Tax and business rates customers who have made a payment at the Debden office since it reopened following COVID-19 in April 2021, will automatically receive a payment card by post before the office shuts in November.
Changing the way they use our services
Councillor Alan Lion, Cabinet Member for Customer said:
With the closure of this office we have taken the opportunity to review payment options.
We have noticed that many of our customers are changing the way they use our services, moving towards more online options. With the changes we are putting in place, residents will be able to use services at a more convenient time to them in a range of locations across the district.
Making payments
Direct Debit remains the best way to pay. You can set up a Direct Debit or pay online via our website.
To pay with an AllPay card, visit your local Post Office or PayPoint. There are approximately 60 locations within the district, many of which are open 6 days a week, meaning you can visit at a time that is convenient to you.
Housing management
Our housing team will be based at other office sites and on our estates, to continue meeting residents face-to-face. Residents wishing to order communal keys or fob replacements can continue to order them online.
Residents will be notified by the housing team once their replacement key or fob is ready for collection from the Civic Offices in Epping.
Tenancy agreements and sign ups, previously carried out from the Debden office, will be completed at the time of viewing a property.
The housing management team will soon be announcing a new location in the area, where staff will be based to offer support for tenants.
Tenants can continue to receive housing management services by:
- Visiting our Civic Office in Epping or the Limes Farm Housing Office at the Limes Centre in Chigwell
- Filling in an enquiry form online
- Calling 01992 564000
Focus on residents’ specific issues
Councillor Holly Whitbread, Cabinet Member for Housing and Community said:
By removing members of our housing management team from the Broadway office, we feel residents will benefit from a more hands-on approach as staff will be able to spend more time on our estates across the district and can focus on residents’ specific issues.
Other services
Residents can pick up clear recycling sacks from a number of outlets across the district.
