How much do I pay?

The amount you’ll have to pay depends on the type of work you’re going to do, but the total will be the same whether it’s a full plans or a building notice.

How to pay

Once your application has been submitted and reference number has been given you can either:

  • Pay online via a secure link sent to your email address
  • Pay by phone by calling 01992 564141
  • Pay in person at the council offices using your debit or credit card or cash at the kiosk machines
  • Pay by cheque making it payable to Epping Forest District Council. Please attach a covering letter stating the address and/or application reference and send it to:

Full plans application

We charge in 2 stages:

  1. Plan charge – this is payable immediately after you have submitted your application. This charge is for us to check and approve the plans
  2. Inspection charge – this is paid once you start work and we’ve made our first inspection. We normally send you a single invoice which covers all inspections

Building notices

A building notice charge is payable immediately after you have submitted your application. This single payment covers all our checks and site inspections.

Regularisation applications

A regularisation certificate charge is payable immediately after you have submitted your application.
