Hazardous waste includes batteries, car oil, and paint.

These can be harmful to the environment and must not be disposed of in your wheeled bin.

Asbestos disposal

Essex County Council recycling centres cannot accept asbestos or hazardous waste of any description.

However, you can make a request for bonded asbestos (asbestos cement) to be collected and disposed of by Essex County Council. They will provide a subsidy on collection costs per household per financial year, which will be deducted from your bill before payment if you qualify for the subsidy.
