Pre election candidate information
Read the combined timetable for the Police and Crime Commissioner elections and local government elections on 2 May 2024 for all legal deadlines and events.
Completed nomination papers must be hand delivered to the Returning Officer’s staff at Epping Forest District Council, Civic Offices, 323 High Street, Epping CM16 4BZ.

The deadline for all nominations to be hand delivered is 4pm on Friday 5 April 2024
You are advised to deliver you nomination papers before the last day in case of any queries or issues.

To assist you completing the nomination paper, an annotated (example) copy of both papers for “reference purposes only” can be seen below:
To assist your campaign you can request a copy of the full register of electors for the electoral area e.g. Ward or Parish for which you are standing.
Please read and abide by the data protection guidance on use of the register as it is for electoral purposes only. You can also request a list of the current postal / proxy voters. These forms can be emailed.
Code of conduct
As a candidate you are entitled to appoint various agents to help in your campaign.
The Electoral Commission also publish a Code of Conduct for campaigners that all candidates and their agents should refer to. If you are to have any candidate supporters at polling stations of your campaign who may visit polling stations on election day you should refer to this guide.
The Electoral Commission also publish guidance on tellers.
Appointment forms
The following forms should be completed and emailed or delivered back to the Returning Officer in accordance with the timetable.
Count arrangements
Candidates, the election agent (if you have one) and 1 guest are entitled to observe the count. In order to facilitate this, the Returning Officer needs to obtain the name of address of attendees.
The verification and count application form should be completed and returned to the Elections Team by 24 April 2024 by post, or by email to elections@eppingforestdc.gov.uk.
Secrecy requirements
At all electoral events, all attendees must abide by secrecy requirements for postal voting, the poll and the count.
