Blue-lidded recycling bin

We are replacing both the clear recycling sacks and blue box currently used for recycling with a new blue-lidded recycling bin.

The new blue-lidded recycling bins will be delivered from June 2025 to all properties using a black bin for non-recyclable waste and a green-lidded food and garden bin.

All eligible households will get a 240-litre bin, which is bigger than the black-lidded bin for household waste.

All your recycling in one bin

You will no longer use clear recycling sacks or blue box for recycling, all your recycling can go into your new blue-lidded bin.

Items that can be recycled in the blue-lidded bin:

  • Glass bottles and jars – lids can be kept on
  • Food tins and drink cans
  • Clean paper, card and shredded paper
  • Plastic household bottles, food trays, containers and tubs
  • Aluminium foil and foil containers
  • Aerosol cans
  • Tetra Paks and other food cartons

No changes to your collection day

There will be no changes to your recycling collection day. Place your new blue-lidded recycling bin out within the boundary of your property closest to the highway on your usual recycling collection day before 6.30am.

What about the blue box?

You can keep your old recycling blue box to use for storage.

If you do not want to keep it, put it out with your black bin collection or take it to your local recycling centre.
