Tribute to Ex-Councillor Tony Sutherland

Ex district councillor Tony Sutherland passed away on 24 April 2005 aged 74.

He served as a member of Epping Forest District Council from its establishment in 1974 until 1984 and represented the Ward of Marden Ash in Ongar.

Tony Sutherland was a senior member of the District Council, serving as a member and chairman of the Finance Sub Committee and as member of the Policy & Resources Committee.   He put his financial skills as a bank official to good use in chairing the sub committee.

He was also a long-standing parish councillor and had the distinction of serving for five years as Parish Clerk in Ongar after he retired from professional life.

Remembered for his common sense approach to financial matters Tony Sutherland worked closely with Douglas James who was the Leader of his political group and Chairman of the Policy & Resources Committee.
