Shoreham plane crash

We are deeply shocked and saddened by the tragic incident in which a Hawker Hunter aircraft based at North Weald Airfield crashed whilst taking part in the Shoreham Airshow this afternoon. The aircraft was performing an aerobatic display but apparently did not complete a ‘loop the loop’ manoeuvre and crashed into the nearby A27 in West Sussex.

Sadly at this time, 7 people are confirmed dead and there are several other casualties. The A27 road is likely to remain closed for several hours.

Council Leader Chris Whitbread, speaking on behalf of Epping Forest District Council expressed his shock at the news and offered his condolences and prayers to all families and friends of those involved in this tragic incident.
