Essex residents are being encouraged to show their community spirit this summer by organising their own Love Where You Live events.
It only takes a few moments to register an activity at the Good for Essex website, and everyone who does will be sent a free support pack.
County Councillor Jeremy Lucas, Cabinet Member for Environment & Culture said: “Love Where You Live is something that Essex residents of all ages can take part in, and even if you can only spare a few minutes it can make a big difference.
“Community activities are a great way of showing young people the importance of taking pride in their local environment, so why not organise a Love Where You Live event with your family during the summer holiday?”
Love Where You Live activities can be local clean-up events or anything that benefits the community.
This could include:
- Picking up litter
- Removing graffiti
- Weed clearance
- Planting flowers
- Fete, jumble sale or craft fair
- Helping elderly residents
- Led walks or cycle rides
Charity fashion show or coffee morning, Love Where You Live activity will run throughout 2011, so residents have plenty of time to get involved and organise their own events.
